Dying Matters Week is a national awareness week focussed on the importance of talking about dying, death and bereavement. Across the country the Dying Matters organisation and coalition members from across health, social care and the commercial sector have an unparalleled opportunity to place death, dying and bereavement firmly on the national agenda.
We support Dying Matters week each year and this year is no different. Margaret and Sharon have been involved in meetings with the fellow organisations in Essex planning and organising events.
Due to the current situation, having crucial conversations about death and dying has never been more important. The things we might take for granted at the end of life are often no longer possible and experience for loved ones is very different to that of just a few months ago.
Through this year’s Dying Matters Week it is our intention to bring focus towards the national five daily themes outlined below:
11th Monday - Sudden and traumatic death
12th Tuesday - Carers
13th Wednesday - Homelessness
14th Thursday - Stillbirth and miscarriage
15th Friday - Mental health
You can view posts and videos daily on our facebook page www.facebook.com/pauljkingfuneraldirectors
There will also be other activities and events taking place throughout the week such as
- Social media campaign with videos and images and signposting
- Virtual Death Café
- Recorded storytelling
These will be available through Dying Matters in Essex social media platforms of Facebook and Twitter
